Travelblog 2008 Memories from the Dettman household

After enjoying Christmas 007 with our outsourcing
son Kris who had just returned from travelling to Cambodia, Thailand & India, we imagined January would be restful.

Wrong! The New Year had us travelling. The whole family packed up the moving van on February 1st and battled the worst snow storm of the year to help Alex move to Toronto. He accepted a position with TD Securities, with an office in the Toronto Dominion Centre. His apartment is on the 33rd floor of a condo at the foot of the CN Tower and he can see the games playing in the Skydome when the roof is open

Before the worst of the winter’s record of 444cm of snow had fallen in Ottawa, we traveled with Ron & Nancy to CUBA for two weeks. What a gorgeous spot we were at in Cao Koko.

Have a look at what we saw in Cuba: go to Picassa.

In June, Dee’s Dad got a new hip, his third! (no, he does not have three hips, hooray!) He wasn’t in the hospital a long time, but he had his 89th birthday. Alex, Kelly and cousin Gerry had all gone to college and GRADUATED!

So many came to town in June that Dee fled in July to
Port Cartier with her brother Doug; sister Denise and Vic,
to visit Carol and Rick
. Dee’s sister Mel left to return westward to “The Fort” while the rest went eastward to “The Port”. See how Rick built the new deck with Vic & Doug and all the girls (go to dettmat.blogspot.com)

Wishing you a joyous holiday season

July will forever be remembered as my sister Liz’s son, Tim Micallef’s wedding to Armita. Tim is her youngest, but is the “TV personality par excellence” and they tied the knot at the Toronto Liberty Grand. Their wedding was truly a celebration of the century! September trip to Noranda and Malartic followed the Labour Day stay in Horwood at Ron’s beautiful camp. Follow the links to see the place where Dee was born. Home delivery was necessary in November, 1949. Dee's Dad likes to tell the story about the day he delivered his 4th born. Ron was sick and the Doc would not show up so Pepere was the stork's helper. This November the boys gave Dee the Photo below and took her to the local dancing with no stars stage show (the chicken was good)

December we travelled to Toronto again for the BILLS game. From Alex’s 33rd floor pad we saw good tickets for sale and went to the gate for bargain tickets to the Bud Lounge Windows click on underlined words and select “slideshow” to see more!

Another busy year has passed having fond memories that we wished to share with you. Dee continues to work for the City of Ottawa, Long Term Care Homes and I am still teaching at Algonquin College.

We wish for you and your family a very Merry Christmas from the Dettmans
